Sacred Pomegranate
the Sacred Heart iconography -beyond the obvious Christian implications- brings to mind a love so powerful and unconditional it bursts beyond the physical bounds of the heart itself; a love that radiates, burns, bleeds…
i grew up eating pomegranates regularly in my Persian family - our fingers become adept at picking the sweet tart, ruby red arils long before youtube tutorials & reels boast pomegranate “hacks”, we sprinkle Persian Hogweed (Golpar) on the seeds before crunching into them, flavor bursting & electrifying our senses.
there’s something so loving in nature offering this brilliant, vibrant fruit in the wintry months - a beacon of blazing color & flavor amidst the chilly, grey season
so i present to you…my Sacred Pomegranate: a flavor from a homeland i may never know in this lifetime but feels part of my soul, a gift of radiant love from the closest thing i know to a God: Nature.
9x12” print of original artwork by Kita (that’s me!) printed & packed in my very own studio in a biodegradable cellulose sleeve.
