Azadi

$25.00

Azadi means Freedom in Farsi: the language of my father, the language I grew up hearing at huge, beautiful, boisterous Persian family dinners, the language that makes me unexpectedly tear up when i overhear folks speak it, the language shame kept me from learning as a child.

The Pomegranate & the Watermelon, growing and thriving side by side: an homage to my journey back to the culture and heritage society encouraged me to minimize & erase, a love letter to all native, indigenous & marginalized folk - all our freedom from colonialism & white supremacy is inextricably linked.

Free Palestine, Free Iran, Land Back, San Zendegi Azadi, Jin Jiya Azadi, Reparations… As the Jewish Poet/Activist Emma Lazarus said “None of us are free until all of us are free”

8.5x11” print of original artwork by Kita (that’s me!) printed & packed in my very own studio in a biodegradable cellulose sleeve.
